Gambolla – Kids Activity and Play Centre « Mummy Knows Best - The hands-on mum's guide to cool kids' stuff

The few times I have taken my kids shopping with me has been sheer torture all around with me vowing to never repeat the experience again. Thats why, when I came across Gambolla started by mom and entrepreneur, Mahita, it was like an answer to all my prayers. Gambolla is a kids activity and play centre located conveniently near Commercial Street. The idea is, you drop the tots off, saunter away and shop or grab a movie date with hubby. Yes, you do have to take the kids back, eventually.

What I liked about this particular play centre over the others cropping up in the city now, is that there’s lots of space and toys given for unstructured activities and imaginative play. Sure, they have a lovely, large outdoor play structure, and the ground floor area has a ball pit, cars and fun structures for them to burn off energy initially. But the upstairs area is what will keep them occupied for hours while you’re busy. There’s a huge wooden house structure which can be a restaurant, a shop, or just a house – whatever your child wants it to be. A cozy reading area has cushions and lots of books, a crawl area has trucks and legos and there’s an art area with a blackboard wall, paints, playdough and craft items. Kids can move around with the toys and play with them wherever they are comfortable. Mahita has 4 well-trained assistants who are very child-friendly and play well with the kids. Ask them about their birthday party packages and the fun workshops happening most saturdays.

My kids are already clamoring to go back after we visited last week and I think I just might indulge them (and myself). I can’t make up my mind though if I should go shopping or use their wi-fi and just chill with my laptop and a coffee. Decisions, Decisions!

I really loved this place. Its the right size for kids to play in, the food served is delicious, nutritious and child friendly. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. And the quality of toys provided is good. I just wish they would remain open for a while longer than they are currently. But, i guess we should not be too greedy. So, no second show movies for parents, but i guess a good day at Gambolla would mean exhausted kids at home, that would crash early, giving us enough time to do a second show in the privacy of our homes :D

Would have to say that i probably liked the place more than my daughter. My 3 yr old daugher spent 2 hours there while I peacefully shopped at Comm. street. She took an instant liking to the owner and the staff there. That night, at bedtime, i got a full run-down of my daughter’s day at Gambolla. I was most impressed with the way in which they let the kids have fun. From jumping in the ball pit to the doll house, coloring and playing on the slides, my daughter had an absolute blast. I haven’t really checked the place out fully. Must do so during my next visit.
