If you have ever moaned about your kids growing up in Mumbai with a complete disconnect to nature, welcome to the club! Help seems here though as we recently discovered while camping at the Big Red Tent, a two-hour drive out of Mumbai.
Started by Rahil and Janki, the concept of ?assisted camping? was more than welcome to a novice like me. The campsite has plenty for kids to explore with open grounds, sprinklers for a soak, a river along the campsite, swings hanging from trees and lots of hammocks. You even get showers and WCs,
which though common, are very clean. Kids (and us) got to learn the ropes, literally, as we pitched tents in the evening. We cooked
on fired barbeques, got a glimpse of the stars through another campers telescope and ended the night around a campfire.
The fun did not end there though. The final thumb up, much to my amusement, was that that I could get a foot massage while roughing it out! And I did sigh with contentment as I looked over at my kids checking out spiders and ants. They are just reopening the campsite post the monsoons so go camp!
