Rambo Circus Rocks « Mummy Knows Best - The hands-on mum's guide to cool kids' stuff

This year’s circus on the Bandra reclamation ground has to be the best one I have ever seen in the country. Great big top, air cooled interiors, superbly talented artists, good background music and eye catching costumes make Rambo Circus a winner. There are a few good improvements if you observe closely: The costumes are new and shiny; the cast ensemble seems to have reduced; the acts are just the right length; the music is not jarring and in addition to the incredible Indian artists they have a line-up of performers from Argentina, Nepal, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and USA too.

Though they have done away with my favourite segment – The Wheel of Death, the trapeze artists make up for it in the thrill department. Oh yes, the tot was there too…this was not purely for my entertainment…he enjoyed every act saying, ‘I want to do that’ and was absolutely thrilled when the elephant made an appearance and played cricket. They called a few kids on to the stage and my son shot out of the stands and was among the clowns in record speed. Now we hear at least twice a day, ‘I want to go to the circus again.’ I really would not mind either.

I recommend seats in the first row of either the Rs. 550/- or Rs. 350/- in the area close to the entrance. Take a few whistles – the artists might hear your cheers better that way – clapping and hooting for two hours gets tiring and they deserve every encouragement from the crowds.

Rambo International Circus is on everyday till the 2nd of Jan 2011. Rates: Rs. 550/-, Rs, 350/- and Rs. 150/-. You could book your ticket through bookmyshow.com too. Three shows daily: 1.30 pm, 4.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

Yes i totally agree…went there with kids on a cool Friday evening and it was beautiful…frankly did not expect the Circus to be so entertaining and yes the costumes were shiny, classy and quite sophisticated and not over the top at the same time. Some of the acts were lovely and the acts by different races made the evening worth remembering. Recommend going on a week day as weekends are too rushed especially if you have kids below 3 years.

    Hi Priya

Do you have any idea how I can reach the crew or managers of the Rambo Circus troop? I am feature writer for Inc. India and we would love to do a story on them.

    Would appreciate a timely reply

    Best,
    Ira
