a BIG conscience.

The furniture is created from recycled wood and the in-house eco-friendly factory has a zero tolerance policy towards child labour. The production outlet uses natural fabrics, energy efficient lighting, rain water harvesting and solar water heating for the dyeing process. Some of the products on display are created by NGOs like Sai Prem Children, Beghraj and Kasida. So it’s a great place to stock up on gifts, guilt free! Plus I simply adore the gorgeous floral and paisley prints that are on everything from clothes, bed and table linen, to cushion covers and even accessories like bags and pouches.

An old bungalow in the Pali village area is home to The Shop and it has a warm, cosy feel right from the external facade to the in store detailing. For instance, the bed linen is displayed right on a beautiful old bed, and the table ware section is set up with a table for six, chest of drawers and a crockery display cabinet. You almost feel like sitting down for a meal! Here are some of my fave things:

  • The pottery kitchen and table ware from Auroville;
  • The kids room that stocks clothes (the cotton granny pyjamas are adorable), cushions, soft toys, bibs, booties and the very exclusive kite mobiles;
  • The Maroma range including Colibri insect repellents that I have not seen elsewhere in the city and
  • The accessories like pouches for cosmetics, decorative combs, limboo and mirchi mobiles.

One word of warning: Head to this shopping paradise on foot, by public transport or with chauffeur and sans tot as parking is a nightmare and the ceramics are all within reach of little arms. Prices for most products are in keeping with what you would expect at a lifestyle store in the Pali Hill area, but are not over the top. Go on, give your home a makeover!

    They do have a Delhi outlet at
    10, Regal Building
    Parliament Street
    New Delhi – 110001
    So if that’s where you used to go, then yes – it’s the same. Happy shopping. BTW, they also have a store in Noida.
